Disabled Ferry 'Saffet Bey' Successfully Towed to Tuzla for Repairs

On April 18, 2018, the ferry 'Saffet Bey' experienced a technical failure while docked in Cesme. To facilitate repairs, the tugboat 'Marintug II' was dispatched to tow the disabled vessel from its current location in Cesme to a shipyard in Tuzla. The journey commenced as 'Saffet Bey' made its way into the Canakkale Strait on the morning of April 23. During this critical passage, a Coastal Safety tug provided an escort, ensuring the safety of maritime traffic in the strait. The towing operation concluded successfully when 'Saffet Bey' arrived at the Tuzla shipyard on April 24. After undergoing necessary repairs, the ferry departed Tuzla at 12:30 a.m. on May 13, heading back toward Çeşme, with an estimated arrival time of May 15 at 11:00 a.m.
