On the evening of February 9, 2025, the ferry 'Samnøy', which provides vital service between Halhjem and Sandvikvåg, found itself in an unexpected predicament as it ran aground while approaching the ferry pier in Halhjem. Fortunately, all 53 passengers onboard were unharmed, and no damage was reported to the vehicles being transported on the deck. On June 14, 2019, at 8:30 AM, the ferry 'Samnøy' encountered a technical issue, prompting operator Torghatten Nord to suspend services on the Sandvikvåg-Halhjem route. As a result, multiple departures were affected, including the scheduled 11:50 AM sailing from Halhjem and the 12:40 PM sailing from Sandvikvåg. Additionally, the 1:30 PM departure from Halhjem and the 2:20 PM departure from Sandvikvåg were also canceled. The ferry has since docked in Halhjem for necessary repairs and troubleshooting.
