Samudra-Sakti-Iii Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

A significant fire erupted aboard the 'Samudra Sakti III' on September 24 at 8:30 a.m. near Tarahan, Lampung, following an explosion of the main engine generator located at the ship's stern. This incident nearly engulfed the entire hull in flames. The vessel was en route to the port of Bukit Asam to load coal at the time of the explosion. In response to the emergency, the Indonesian Navy dispatched the patrol vessel KRI 'Cucut' along with a Sea Rider response boat to provide assistance. A total of 26 individuals, including 19 crew members, two technicians, and five cadets from AMI Medan Maritime Academy, were rescued from the scene. Fortunately, only one individual sustained a minor burn injury. The survivors were transported safely to shore at Bukit Asam. Subsequently, the captain and several crew members returned to the 'Samudra Sakti III' to help with salvage operations alongside three tugboats.

On the morning of September 24, 2023, an engine room fire ignited on the bulk carrier 'Samudra Sakti III' while at anchorage in Bandar Lampung, located in East Sumatra along the Sunda Strait. The vessel, which was unloaded, had arrived at the anchorage from Singapore on September 21. Emergency protocols were swiftly enacted, leading to the evacuation of all 26 crew members onboard. On June 25, 2018, the vessel 'Armonia' encountered a significant engine malfunction while navigating the Suez Canal as part of a northbound convoy. The issue arose at approximately 3:20 p.m. between the 9 and 12 kilometer marks, close to Port Said. After dropping anchor to address the problem, the ship was able to resume its journey later that evening around 9 p.m. By 11:30 p.m., 'Armonia' was safely moored at Port Said Anchorage, where it remained stationary at the coordinates 31° 19.40' N and 032° 24.54' E on June 26. The 'Armonia' had commenced its voyage from Saleef, Yemen, on June 9.
