Colombian Navy Successfully Evacuates Crew Member from Tanker near Montevideo
On November 18, 2025, the Colombian Navy executed a crucial medical evacuation for an Indian crew member aboard the Liberian-flagged tanker 'San Julián,' which was situated in the anchorage and service area of Montevideo on the RÃo de la Plata (position 35° 02' N 056° 04' W). Responding to an urgent distress signal, the Navy mobilized a helicopter and the patrol boat 'ROU 14-RÃo Arapey' to provide rapid assistance. Prior to the arrival of the Navy's medical team, the crew onboard administered oxygen to the affected crew member, managing to stabilize his condition and enhance his oxygen saturation levels. The Fleet Command's medical unit monitored the evolving situation through radio communications. After approximately 1.5 hours, the patient was securely transported to the helipad of the Police Hospital, following which he was moved to a medical facility for further treatment. Reports indicate that he is now out of danger.
