The San-Matias-I: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

In the early hours of March 5, 2020, the crude oil tanker 'San Matias I' encountered difficulties as it ran aground during its approach to Bahia Blanca at approximately 3 a.m. The vessel, which was en route to Monobuoy No.1 at Puerto Rosales, drew immediate attention, prompting the dispatch of three tugboats to facilitate rescue operations. Thanks to their efforts, the tanker was successfully refloated on March 6 at 1:40 a.m. Upon grounding, the 'San Matias I' was anchored at the Bahia Blanca anchorage, located at coordinates 38° 58.48' S 061° 57.02' W, with the patrol vessel 'GC-130 Pendo' (MMSI: 701548000) present nearby. At the time of the incident, the tanker was carrying a cargo of 65,000 tons of crude oil.
