Robbery Incident on the Maersk Matsuyama at Mamonal Anchorage
On July 25, 2018, the Maersk Matsuyama, identified by IMO number 9853373, was targeted by thieves while anchored at Mamonal in Colombia, specifically at coordinates 10°19.30' N and 075°31.70' W. At approximately 7:35 a.m., the vessel's duty officer discovered that the locking mechanism on the forward storage area had been compromised, and various ship’s supplies were missing. Investigations revealed that the intruders had accessed the ship through the anchor chain. Following the discovery, the incident was promptly reported to the local agent, who then notified the authorities for further action.
