Successful Recovery of Sunken Trawler by Mira A and Sanne A Near Rügen Island
On February 15, 2017, the Baltic salvage team from Rostock undertook a significant operation, successfully raising the fishing vessel 'Potsdam' approximately 16 nautical miles east of Sassnitz. This mission involved the use of the crane vessel 'Sanne A' alongside the converted ferry 'Mira A,' with the support of the anti-pollution ship 'Arkona.' The 'Potsdam,' a 17-meter cutter, tragically sank on the night of July 28, 2017, while en route to Denmark for dismantling. The vessel presented a navigation hazard with a depth of just 12.4 meters above it, necessitating its prompt removal from the seabed. The total cost of the salvage operation was around 180,000 Euros. After the wreck was safely lifted aboard the 'Mira A,' the vessel set course for Rostock, arriving on February 16.
