Titan LNG Makes History with First LNG Delivery at Mukran Port in Germany
Titan LNG, recognized as a premier LNG supplier for marine and industrial applications in North West Europe, has marked a significant milestone by executing its inaugural LNG bunker delivery at Mukran Port, located on Rügen Island in the Baltic Sea. The delivery involved the refueling of DEME’s dredger, Scheldt River, utilizing seven LNG trucks to facilitate the operation. This innovative approach allows for the versatile supply of LNG across various locations, ensuring vessels can access LNG in German ports at competitive rates, often lower than that of traditional marine gasoil.
Dredging Operation Leads to Oil Spill in Elbe Estuary
In the early hours of August 15, 2018, the dredger 'Schldt River' was involved in a minor oil spill incident in the Elbe estuary, specifically near buoy 53. The spill originated from a ruptured hydraulic hose on the dredger's arm, resulting in an estimated loss of 150 liters of oil. Fortunately, the crew acted promptly and managed to recover the majority of the spilled oil. Following the incident, an oil surveillance flight commenced from Nordholz to assess the situation in the vicinity. Observations revealed an oil slick extending approximately 2.4 kilometers in length and 300 meters in width. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, focusing on the 39-year-old master of the dredger, who was conducting fairway maintenance operations between Cuxhaven and Wedel at the time.
