Emergency Medivac for Crew Members in Piraeus
On June 6, 2023, the Port Authority of Piraeus received an urgent notification around noon regarding the medical emergencies of three crew members aboard the tanker 'Seahake'. The crew members, aged 30, 23, and 53, required immediate hospital care while the vessel was stationed at Piraeus anchorage. A swift response from a patrol boat ensured the 30-year-old crew member was safely retrieved and taken to Zeas marina, from where he was conveyed by ambulance to Piraeus General Hospital. Following this, a Navy helicopter was deployed to facilitate the medical evacuation of the other two crew members, aged 23 and 53. They were airlifted to Elefsina military airport and subsequently transferred by ambulance to the same hospital for urgent medical treatment.
