In a recent development, the Danish-flagged gastanker Maersk Meridian (IMO: 9369904) has altered its course to Bermuda due to a medical emergency affecting one of its crew members. The vessel, en route from the United Kingdom to Texas, contacted Bermuda Harbour Radio just before noon on April 23, while situated approximately 624 nautical miles northeast of Bermuda. The onboard crew reported that a 51-year-old second engineer had been experiencing severe abdominal pain for the past two days. To facilitate the urgent medical needs of the engineer, the Maersk Meridian is scheduled to rendezvous with a pilot boat around 10 AM tomorrow. The sick crew member will be safely transferred and taken ashore to receive treatment at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, as reported by Bernews.
