Seaway Heavy Lifting, a subsidiary of Subsea 7, has successfully finalized the installation of the Galloper offshore wind farm substation and its accompanying jacket foundation. This significant milestone was achieved on Friday, May 12, utilizing the company's heavy-lift vessel, the Oleg Strashnov. The essential components for the 336MW offshore wind project, situated approximately 30 kilometers off the Suffolk coast, were crafted by the Heerema Fabrication Group. Spearheaded by innogy SE, the Galloper OWF project represents a substantial investment opportunity, estimated at around £1.5 billion. Earlier in late March, the innovative foundations for the farm were installed by GeoSea, employing their specialized 'Innovation' jack-up vessel. Seaway Heavy Lifting Achieves Record Lift with 4700Mt Installation of PU Topside

Aug 09, 2015 11:14

On Sunday, August 2nd, at 09:30 AM, Seaway Heavy Lifting's crane vessel, OLEG STRASHNOV, marked a significant milestone in the offshore industry by successfully installing the Process Unit (PU) topside for GDF SUEZ E&P UK Ltd, a subsidiary of the ENGIE Group, along with partners Centrica Energy and Bayerngas. This operation, which involved a remarkable hook load of 4700 metric tons, set a new lift record for Seaway Heavy Lifting. The PU topside installed is a crucial component of the Cygnus field, which comprises four platforms: the Alpha Wellhead platform, Process Unit platform, Quarters Unit platform, and the Bravo Wellhead platform. Located in the southern North Sea, the Cygnus field is vital to energy production in the region. Last year, the OLEG STRASHNOV's sister vessel, STANISLAV YUDIN, completed the successful installation of several other key structures including the Alpha Wellhead platform, Process Unit jacket, Quarters Unit jacket, and vital subsea components. The ongoing campaign for 2023 includes the installation of the Bravo Wellhead platform, as well as additional components such as the Process Unit topside, compression module, Quarters Unit topside, and connecting bridges. Seaway Heavy Lifting's Chief Operating Officer, Peter de Bree, expressed his pride in the OLEG STRASHNOV and its crew for achieving this record lift. He extended gratitude to GDF SUEZ for their trust and confidence in Seaway Heavy Lifting’s capability, which led to the awarding of this contract back in 2012. This achievement not only highlights the technical expertise of the team but also solidifies Seaway Heavy Lifting's reputation in offshore operations.
