The incident occurred shortly after the vessel left Jeju around 5:30 p.m. local time, when flames were detected in one of the trucks on board. The activation of fire alarms triggered the crew to swiftly engage the onboard fire suppression systems. The captain promptly ordered an emergency turnaround, steering the ship back towards Jeju. In response, the Jeju Coast Guard dispatched specialized patrol boats and a helicopter to assist with the emergency. Upon the vessel's arrival at Jeju Port, firefighting teams boarded and continued their battle against the flames, which were fully extinguished about an hour after the carrier docked.
