On October 11, 2012, the offshore vessel 'Esvagt Corona' experienced a significant grounding incident off the coast of Esbjerg. After a sudden power failure struck at 12:50 a.m., the vessel found itself adrift and, despite initial attempts to regain control using its own power, it ultimately ran aground on a nearby sandbar. Local fishermen attempted to assist the stranded ship with a hawser, but multiple breaks in the line forced them to abandon the rescue effort. With the situation escalating, Svitzer tugs 'Svitzer Skuld' and 'Svitzer Helios' were deployed to provide further assistance. Fortunately, after a concerted effort, the 'Esvagt Corona' was successfully freed from the sandbar at approximately 3 p.m. The vessel was then safely escorted to a quay in Esbjerg Harbour by the two tugs.
