Seven Navica Fire Incident in Frederikshavn

Dec 19, 2012 16:27

On December 19, 2012, at approximately 1 p.m., a fire erupted aboard the 'Seven Navica,' which has been docked at Ortoft Yard in Frederikshavn since December 3. The incident led to the rapid production of thick smoke, prompting authorities to dispatch an ambulance to Harbor Square amid concerns that crew members might still be on board. Fortunately, no personnel were present when emergency services arrived. However, the crew had initiated efforts to combat the fire prior to the fire brigade's arrival. The blaze, which developed in a storage room during welding operations on deck, was brought under control after roughly one hour of firefighting efforts. Firefighters utilized thermal cameras to ensure the safety of the vessel before it was returned to the Frederikshavn station. One firefighter suffered a shock due to a welder's mishap and was subsequently transported to the hospital for evaluation. Additionally, two workers were admitted to the hospital for smoke inhalation treatment.
