On July 28, Subsea 7's construction vessel, Seven Waves, made waves by becoming one of the inaugural vessels to dock at the newly expanded quay at Lerwick Port's deepwater Dales Voe Base in the UK. With a deadweight tonnage of 18,666 dwt, Seven Waves is being prepared for an upcoming contract in Canadian waters. The recent completion of the first phase of the quay's extension marks a significant step forward, with the second phase poised to commence shortly. The initial vessel to utilize this extended facility was the coaster vessel Eendracht, which delivered essential supplies for the transfer to Seven Waves. Captain Calum Grains, harbour master and deputy chief executive of Lerwick Port Authority, stated, 'Seven Waves is an early harbinger of the type of work which the expanded Dales Voe Base, with its enormous capacity, quay strength, water depth, and laydown space, is ideally suited for in supporting a wide range of offshore industry projects.'
