On the morning of March 20, 2013, a maritime incident unfolded on the Elbe River when the 'Shoalway' collided with the Liberian-registered container vessel, 'CSAV Rio de Janeiro' (IMO: 9407885). The 'CSAV Rio de Janeiro' had departed from Eurogate in Hamburg at 7:20 a.m., when the unexpected collision occurred near the Airbus Yard. Both vessels sustained minor damage, with visible dents reported. The 'Shoalway' successfully docked at Warehouse 71/72 by 8:30 a.m. In the meantime, the 'CSAV Rio de Janeiro' reached a position near Neßsand and was subsequently towed by the tug 'Bugsier 9' back to the Finkenwerder pilings at the request of Traffic Control.
