On December 3, 2017, at 10:45 AM, the cargo vessel 'Siegfried Lehmann' was involved in an incident while navigating the Southern lock in Brunsbüttel. During its entry into the lock, the ship struck the moored tanker 'Manas', which was secured along the middle wall of the lock chamber. The allision occurred due to a navigation error, resulting in damage to the davits on the starboard side of the 'Siegfried Lehmann' and the railing of the 'Manas'. Fortunately, the 'Manas' was able to resume its journey from Hamburg to Rotterdam by noon on the same day. Conversely, the 'Siegfried Lehmann', which was on a journey from Kolding to Sevilla, faced a delay as it was held until its seaworthiness could be certified. The vessel dropped anchor in Brunsbüttel roads and, on December 4 at noon, made its way to Mützelfeldt Yard in Cuxhaven for necessary repairs, arriving at 4:30 PM. After the repair work was completed, the 'Siegfried Lehmann' departed the yard early on December 7 at 12:30 AM, resuming its course to Sevilla with an estimated arrival date of December 14. Meanwhile, the 'Manas' left Hamburg on December 4 and was on schedule to reach Rotterdam by December 5.
