Working Conditions Aboard the Sigrid

On December 8, 2025, the ferry 'Herøysund' (IMO: 9666405), which operates on the Stokkvågen - Onøy - Sleneset route, encountered a significant setback due to thruster complications. This technical fault forced the vessel to return to Stokkvågen for necessary repairs, resulting in the cancellation of all sailings until the early hours of December 9. To manage the disruption, the 'Sigrid' was scheduled to take over service starting at 8:05 a.m. However, it wasn’t long before another setback arose, as the 'Sigrid' reported an electrical malfunction that affected its bow gates. An electrician is currently en route to address the issue, but for the time being, all A and B route services have been suspended on December 9.

On November 20, 2024, at 5:15 PM, the ferry 'Sigrid', operating from Forvik in Tjøtta, faced significant challenges during its docking maneuver. Strong winds coupled with a rope that had become entangled in its propeller disrupted the vessel's approach to the quay. Instead of a straightforward docking, the ferry lingered alongside the quay due to these adverse conditions. A loose rope floating nearby complicated matters further, ultimately becoming snagged in one of the propellers. After approximately 40 minutes of difficulty, the 'Sigrid' successfully docked. Consequently, the inclement weather and entanglement led to the cancellation of one sailing that evening and another scheduled for the morning of November 21. Following the incident, an underwater drone was deployed to inspect the propeller, and the ferry quickly resumed its regular operations.

The ferry 'Sigrid' experienced a grounding incident near the ferry dock in Skipavik, Ombo, on June 14 at 8:10 AM, after colliding with a stone filling. Subsequently, the vessel was transported to Stavanger on the afternoon of June 15 and docked at the GMC facility on Buøy. As investigations continue, the root cause of the grounding remains unclear. Norled's Regional Manager for Ferries has reported the situation to the Norwegian Maritime Directorate and other relevant authorities. Initial assessments from divers revealed no visible damage to the hull; however, they did identify issues with the rudder and propeller. A comprehensive evaluation will be conducted once the ferry is drydocked, allowing for a detailed inspection of the damages. Currently, the duration of 'Sigrid's' time out of service remains undetermined.

On the morning of June 14, 2017, the ferry 'Sigrid' encountered an unexpected situation as it ran aground near Ombo. Thankfully, no passengers were on board during this incident. The mishap occurred while the vessel was attempting to execute a turn. Following the grounding, divers were dispatched to assess any potential damage to the ferry's hull. Standard procedures were initiated, with notifications sent to both the Maritime Directorate and local police forces to ensure safety and coordination.
