Spitsbergen Maritime Incident: 'Mirakh' and 'Silver Copenhagen' Collide
On July 13, 2018, a maritime incident unfolded off the western coast of Spitsbergen involving the cargo ship 'Mirakh' and the reefer vessel 'Silver Copenhagen'. The collision took place in Bellsound Bay while the vessels were maneuvering during the unmooring process after unloading fish products. The 'Mirakh' struck the starboard side of the 'Silver Copenhagen' with its port side bow. Fortunately, both ships sustained only minor damage, and no leaks or injuries were reported. Following the incident, the 'Mirakh' successfully reached its berth in Kirkenes on July 14 at 8:45 a.m., while the 'Silver Copenhagen' continued its journey towards Murmansk, with an estimated arrival on July 16.
