Working Conditions Aboard the Silver-Crystal

Iceland-based shipping company Eimskip has finalized a deal to sell a trio of its reefer vessels, bringing in a total of $12 million. The vessels involved in this transaction are the Langfoss, constructed in 1991, the Stigfoss and the Vidfoss, both launched in 1990. For the past two decades, these vessels have been operational in Norway under Eimskip's banner. In a significant move, Eimskip has announced that it will be chartering back one of the sold vessels for a duration of two years.

On April 22, 2019, the reefer vessel 'Langfoss' encountered engine troubles while sailing from Tromsø. Following the mishap, the ship was anchored in Sortland starting at 2:15 PM. In a strategic move to facilitate repairs, the Danish tug 'Odin' (IMO: 870399) took the 'Langfoss' in tow on April 30 at 2:50 PM. The duo made their way to Harstad, where they arrived on May 1 at 5:50 AM. After completing necessary repairs, the 'Langfoss' departed Harstad on July 2 at 11:50 AM and proceeded back to Tromsø, reaching its destination on July 3.
