On February 8, 2017, the renowned Maersk Connector was honored with the prestigious Offshore Support Ship Award during the Offshore Support Journal Annual Awards held in London. This remarkable vessel, part of Damen Shipyards Group's 8500-series offshore carriers, is celebrated for its cutting-edge design and operational efficiency, setting a new standard in the industry. Built at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania, the Maersk Connector was delivered to Maersk Supply Service in 2016 and has since been engaged in long-term charter with UK-based DeepOcean, tackling various projects. The vessel’s success is attributed to a fruitful collaboration between Damen Shipyards Group, Maersk Supply Service, and DeepOcean, showcasing the effectiveness of teamwork in maritime design and innovation.

DeepOcean has been awarded a significant contract for cable installation and trenching services by Nexans, aimed at supporting ScottishPower Renewable’s East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm located in the North Sea. The agreement encompasses the transportation, installation, and trenching of export cables essential to the project. The execution of this project will be overseen from DeepOcean’s Darlington office, with offshore operations anticipated to commence by 2019.
