DOF has officially taken delivery of the state-of-the-art anchor handling tug supply vessel, Skandi Iceman, from Vard Soviknes shipyard located in Norway. The vessel is constructed based on the innovative VARD 2 12 design, with the hull engineered at Vard Tulcea in Romania. Skandi Iceman is tailored for versatile global operations and is certified with DNV’s ICE-1B class notation. Among its advanced features, the vessel boasts a streamlined hull shape that enhances speed and minimizes fuel consumption, while also ensuring remarkable sea and station-keeping capabilities. The vessel offers excellent maneuverability and stability, making it well-suited for demanding maritime tasks. Additionally, Skandi Iceman is fitted with a sophisticated ROV hangar that includes a launch and recovery system for ROV operations. According to reports from broker Seabrokers, the Skandi Iceman has made its entry into the North Sea spot market, securing its first assignment on the very day of its delivery. The inaugural task for this robust vessel involves working with MLS to transport the semi-submersible Leiv Eiriksson in the Barents Sea, offshore Norway.
