On the evening of April 5, 2019, lifeboat crews in Aberdeen sprang into action to assist a crew member in distress aboard the 'Maersk Laser,' an offshore supply vessel operating approximately five miles south-east of the city. The all-weather lifeboat 'Bon Accord' launched at around 7 p.m. to respond to the emergency call. Upon arriving at the scene, two trained casualty-care members from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) boarded the 'Maersk Laser' to evaluate the ailing crew member's condition. Following the assessment and medical advice from the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary's emergency department, the decision was made to evacuate the man. He was safely transferred onto the lifeboat and subsequently taken back to shore. There, an ambulance was waiting to transport him to the hospital for further treatment.
