Fjord Cat Ferry Towed for Repairs to Frederikshavn
On April 20, the ferry "Fjord Cat" was successfully towed from Hirtshals to Frederikshavn by the vessel "Havkat III" for necessary engine repairs. As a result, Fjord Line has imposed a temporary schedule adjustment for its remaining ferries, "Bergensfjord" and "Stavanger," which will now make a stop in Kristiansand en route to their destinations in Stavanger and Bergen. This revised schedule will come into effect starting the evening of April 21. Following this unforeseen issue, all trips on the "Fjord Cat" have been canceled until May 2. The "Fjord Cat" typically does not operate between Hirtshals and Kristiansand this early in the season; however, this year, Fjord Line opted to commence its operations on April 7. Unfortunately, engine troubles emerged shortly thereafter, prompting the need for urgent repairs. Technical Issues Force 'Fjord Cat' Ferry to Suspend Services
On April 11, 2017, the 'Fjord Cat' ferry experienced technical difficulties, leading to the cancellation of all its sailings between Kristiansand, Norway, and Hirtshals, Denmark. Despite the setback, Fjord Line has not specified the exact nature of the issues causing the catamaran to remain docked in Kristiansand. Passengers affected by the disruption were promptly notified and given options to either reschedule their travel or cancel their tickets altogether. Fjord Line expressed their sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by this unexpected cancellation but has yet to provide a timeline for when 'Fjord Cat' will return to service.
Bergensfjord Takes Over Service from Fjord Cat in Hirtshals
As the Fjord Line's ferry, Fjord Cat, remains out of commission for repairs at Orskov Yard in Frederikshavn, the maritime scene welcomed the arrival of the Bergensfjord (IMO: 9586617) in Hirtshals on June 18. This marks the vessel's inaugural entry into the port as it steps in to serve the route while Fjord Cat undergoes maintenance.
