On the evening of December 10, 2015, tragedy struck as a Polish man fell overboard from the vessel 'Mazovia' while it was navigating from Ystad to Świnoujście. The incident occurred approximately 20 miles east of southern Rügen, in the coastal waters of Germany, at around 6 p.m. The Swedish Search and Rescue (SAR) center promptly alerted their German counterparts, leading to an extensive search and rescue operation.
