In the early hours of January 24, 2018, at precisely 4:46 a.m., the fishing trawler 'Slettholmen' found itself stranded near Fedje, specifically between Rognsneset and Flundrevågen on the northeastern shore of the island. Fortunately, the vessel was able to refloat under its own power; however, it soon encountered engine troubles, requiring additional support from rescue teams. The lifeboat 'Kristian Gerhard Jebsen II', alongside a pilot boat from Fedje, was dispatched to aid the beleaguered trawler. By 7:00 a.m., after conducting a thorough inspection to confirm that the 'Slettholmen' was not taking on water, the two vessels successfully towed the trawler south into Hjelte Fjord. Thankfully, all crew members aboard remained unharmed during the incident.
