Grounding Incident on Paraná River Involves Cargo Ship Smew
On May 22, 2023, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the cargo vessel 'Smew' experienced a grounding incident on the Paraná River. Fortunately, the ship was refloated just two hours later, allowing it to resume its journey on May 23. Following the grounding, the 'Smew' anchored near the incident site in the San Pedro area for necessary surveys and inspections. At the time of the grounding, the vessel was transporting a substantial cargo of 32,163 tons, consisting of flour and soybean pellets, as it traveled from San Lorenzo to Callao.
