Incident Involving 'Smyrna di Levante': Anchor Loss During Departure
On February 12, 2025, at around noon, a significant incident occurred involving the ferry 'Smyrna di Levante' as it was departing from the Port of Zakynthos bound for the Port of Kyllini. The Captain reported to the Port Authority of Zakynthos that the vessel had lost its starboard anchor shortly after leaving port. Despite this setback, the ferry successfully continued its journey, carrying 257 passengers along with 89 private vehicles, 30 trucks, two buses, and two ambulances. Upon arrival at Kyllini, the ferry faced an initial restriction from the local Port Authority prohibiting it from sailing further. However, after presenting a valid certificate of class maintenance from the responsible classification society, the ship was cleared to resume its operations and departed for the Port of Zakynthos.

On January 9, 2024, at around noon, the Port Authority of Keratsini received reports of an allision involving the ferry 'Agios Georgios' (IMO: 7432733). The vessel broke away from its mooring at the new Drapetsonas pier due to harsh weather conditions in the area, subsequently colliding with the containership 'Smyrna di Levante'. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or indications of marine pollution following the incident. Authorities from the Port Department of Keratsini are currently investigating the matter and have suspended sailing operations for both vessels.
