Working Conditions Aboard the Speedrunner-Jet-2

On June 17, 2025, around noon, the Captain of 'Speeddrunner Jet 2' alerted the Port Authority of Skopelos regarding a malfunction with the ferry's starboard side ramp during the mechanical release process. This issue resulted in a delay for the vessel, which was originally scheduled to leave at 1:40 p.m. After manually securing the ramp, 'Speeddrunner Jet 2' was able to set sail at 3:15 p.m. The ferry carried 140 passengers along with 18 cars, 3 RVs, and one camper on its route to Glossa, Skiathos, and Mantoudi.

On the morning of September 21, the Port Authority of Syros received a notification from the Master of the 'Speedrunner Jet 2', which was on a scheduled journey connecting Thira with Paros, Mykonos, Syros, and Piraeus. The captain reported that the ship's approach to Syros was deemed unsafe due to poor weather conditions, prompting a decision to continue on to the port of Piraeus instead. As a result, passengers and vehicles intended for disembarkation at Syros were transferred to a different vessel for their onward journey. In addition, 220 passengers waiting to board the 'Speedrunner Jet 2' were also accommodated and redirected to their destinations by the shipping company.

On August 20, 2024, the Port Authority of Thessaloniki received an alarming report from the captain of the 'Speed Runner Jet 2', a vessel docked in the port. The ship's smoke sensor triggered an alarm indicating overheating within the flue compartment. In response, the Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki conducted a prompt emergency inspection of the vessel. Following the inspection, the ship was temporarily prohibited from sailing to ensure safety. Only after the presentation of a class maintenance certificate by the vessel's surveyor was the 'Speed Runner Jet 2' permitted to resume its scheduled voyages.
