Bain Capital Announces Sale of Three Bulk Carriers from Giuseppe Bottiglieri Fleet
In a strategic move, US private equity firm Bain Capital Credit has listed three bulk carriers from the Giuseppe Bottiglieri Shipping Company for sale. These 10-year-old post-Panamax vessels—named Paola Bottiglieri, Peppino Bottiglieri, and Giovanna Bottiglieri—are currently available for inspection. Shipping brokers have confirmed the availability of these bulkers, inviting potential buyers to express their interest. According to VesselsValue.com, the estimated value of each vessel ranges between $13 million and $15 million, making them a notable opportunity in the maritime market.
Vessel Arrested in Singapore Waters
On May 4, 2018, at 3:50 p.m., the MV Peppino Bottiglieri was docked at the Eastern Special Purpose Anchorage in Singapore when it was detained by authorities. The legal proceedings were handled by Clasis LLP, who served as the arresting solicitor for the case. After a brief period of detention, the vessel was officially released on May 12, 2018, allowing it to resume its operations.
Salvage Operation Successful for the Peppino Bottiglieri After Grounding Near Bahia Blanca
The 'Peppino Bottiglieri', a cargo vessel transporting 74,305 tonnes of soya beans and corn, experienced a grounding incident shortly after departing from Bahia Blanca en route to Cai Mep, Vietnam on March 23, 2018. This crucial salvage operation was handled by Tsavliris Salvage (International) Ltd, adhering to the provisions of Lloyd's Form of Salvage Agreement. Upon getting the distress call, a team, including a salvage master and officer, was promptly dispatched to the vessel's location. To assist in the critical salvage efforts, the powerful tugs 'Ona Topaz' (5,150 bhp, 75 tbp) and 'Ona Triunfo' (5,086 bhp, 75 tbp) were mobilized from Bahia Blanca. Just one day later, on March 24, an underwater inspection took place leading to the successful refloating of the 'Peppino Bottiglieri', which was then escorted back to the Bahia Blanca Anchorage for mandated inspections by port authorities. This operation was completed rapidly, with all Tsavliris services concluding within five days of the grounding incident. The vessel eventually departed Bahia Blanca on March 26, setting course for Puerto Madryn with an estimated time of arrival on March 28.
