On July 13, 2016, tragedy struck the 'Star Mariella' when a crew member fell overboard at approximately 11 a.m. The alarm was raised at 1:29 p.m. after the vessel reported the incident while situated at coordinates 06-24.10N 108-07.6E, approximately 243 miles southeast of Vung Tau Mui Island. In response, the Information Systems Vietnam Coast promptly communicated the emergency to local search and rescue units. Authorities have called on other vessels in the vicinity to enhance their watch and provide assistance in the efforts to locate the missing crew member.
