On June 10, 2013, the Brazilian bulk carrier 'Norsul Camocim' experienced a significant collision while navigating the Port of Santos. The vessel, which had departed from Porto de Tubarao on June 7 with a load of coal, was en route to the Usiminas terminal in Cubatao, with an expected arrival time of 1 p.m. Unfortunately, an engine failure led to the 'Norsul Camocim' crashing into the 'Hanjin Odessa', a ship that was moored with a cargo of soybeans at warehouse 39. This incident resulted in a substantial 25-meter gash on the port side of the 'Hanjin Odessa', specifically in the ballast tank area, causing a leak. Additionally, the bulk carrier collided with a shiploader, damaging infrastructure and displacing equipment into the water at warehouse 38, which subsequently put the conveyor system out of service. The Maritime Administration ordered the 'Norsul Camocim', which sustained damage to its port side foreship, to berth at the Usiminas terminal, warehouse 32. In the aftermath of the collision, experts conducted inspections on both vessels, and local police initiated an investigation into the incident, preventing both ships from departing the port.
