On April 20, 2012, the fishing vessel 'Steffen C' performed a remarkable rescue of five crew members from the Norwegian trawler 'Bent S' after the vessel tragically sank off the coast of Aasiaat. The incident occurred when 'Bent S' collided with ice flows southwest of Aasiaat, causing it to develop a catastrophic leak. In a race against time, the crew was forced to abandon ship using their lifeboat and awaited rescue amid the icy waters. Fortunately, the 'Steffen C,' positioned about an hour away, received the distress call and promptly altered its course to assist. Following the call for aid, the Greenland Command enlisted the help of local police. Additionally, an Air Greenland helicopter took off from Ilulissat to reach the stranded fishermen.
