Grand Bahama Shipyard Earns Prestigious Recognition for Excellence in Ship Repair
Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBS) has solidified its reputation in the global ship repair industry following a stellar performance last month with the swift repair of the âStena Forth.â Remarkably, this vessel left the yard a full ten days ahead of schedule, garnering attention from international maritime media, including a feature in âThe Motorshipâ online magazine. Renowned as a leading resource for senior marine engineers, âMotorshipâ reaches an impressive audience of over 20,000 readers monthly. In a detailed interview, Graham Couser, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at GBS, elaborated on the project: âIn January 2014, GBS was entrusted with the contract to lift a Blowout Preventer (BOP) Stack onto the âStena Forth.â This task was executed successfully, after which we began discussions on the rigâs five-year classification renewal program at Freeport, Bahamas.â Couser expressed his satisfaction with the project's outcome, stating, âGiven the limited options available to operators like Stena in this region, the success of this project is crucial for the growth of this market segment for our yard.â The dedicated team at GBS invested significant effort in preparing for this ambitious project, further diversifying their service offerings. As one of the Caribbean's largest ship repair facilities equipped with three floating docks and comprehensive support services, GBS is well-positioned to tackle any ship repair assignment. Their commitment to excellence did not go unnoticed, as they were recently honored by the Society of Marine Port Engineers of New York for their exceptional ship repair work during their annual event in New York.
