Eidesvik Offshore, a prominent player in Norway's maritime sector, has recently inked a letter of intent with fellow Norwegian firm Seabed Geosolutions. This agreement involves the charter of two advanced vessels, namely the 'Subsea Viking' and the 'Vantage'. The charter is set to commence in late January to early February 2018 and will extend until the conclusion of the year. This strategic partnership underscores Eidesvik Offshore's commitment to enhancing its service offerings within the offshore industry.

Hatston Pier was placed under an exclusion zone earlier this evening due to a small fire reported aboard the offshore vessel Subsea Viking, which was docked at the pier. Fortunately, the fire was swiftly contained and there were no injuries reported. Firefighters from Kirkwall remain on-site to monitor the situation, while a nearby Coastguard tug, also docked at the pier, continued to pump water onto the vessel to ensure the safety of gas bottles located on its deck. In the wake of this incident, the NorthLink ferry Hrossay, scheduled to dock at Hatston Pier, was redirected to Kirkwall Pier. To accommodate the affected passengers, the booking office at Kiln Corner was opened specially. As of shortly after midnight, cooling water was still being pumped over the deck of the Subsea Viking vessel.
