Hydraulic System Failure Disrupts Summit Success's Arrival in Rostock
On February 23, 2020, shortly after 9 p.m., the captain of the 'Summit Success' alerted Warnemünde traffic control regarding a malfunction in the ship's hydraulic system while approaching the Rostock seaport from Suez. The hydraulic failure rendered the winches inoperable, prompting the captain to execute an emergency anchoring maneuver to bring the vessel to a halt. In a coordinated effort, four tugs were deployed and manually connected to assist the ship into port. After necessary repairs, the 'Summit Success' was able to dock at berth 17 in Rostock, though it experienced a four-hour delay. Authorities boarded the ship for inspections, and the captain underwent a standard drug test, which returned a negative result. The vessel eventually departed Rostock on March 2 at 8 p.m., en route to Skagen, with an expected time of arrival on March 4.
