Sunny-Liger Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On May 31, the oil tanker 'Sunny Liger' arrived at the Moll South APM Terminal in Barcelona, marking the end of its lengthy voyage that began over a month prior. The vessel, which had been in a state of waiting with its cargo of Russian oil, finally secured permission to dock at 3:10 a.m. after departing from Primorsk on April 24. This arrival highlights ongoing developments in maritime trade routes involving Russian oil amidst fluctuating global energy dynamics.

The oil tanker 'Sunny Liger', which is making its way to Gibraltar carrying a shipment of Russian oil, will be turned away from British Gibraltar Territorial Waters. Scheduled to arrive on May 11, the vessel will not be allowed to dock at the port or unload its cargo. The Port Authority is actively monitoring vessels approaching the area for any connections to Russia, prepared to deny entry to those that do.

On May 8, the oil tanker 'Sunny Liger' exited the waters of IJmuiden after spending a week anchored. Originally, the vessel was slated to dock in Sweden; however, dock workers there expressed their resistance to mooring the ship. Consequently, the tanker redirected its course toward the Netherlands, making its first stop in Rotterdam. Unfortunately, the situation did not improve, as local port employees also declined to unload the 'Sunny Liger' in solidarity with their Swedish counterparts. This led the ship to relocate to Amsterdam. After several days of anchoring off the coast of IJmuiden, it has now set sail for Gibraltar. Significantly, although the 'Sunny Liger' does not fly the Russian flag and thus avoids direct sanctions linked to the Ukraine conflict, there has been considerable pushback in the Netherlands due to its cargo of Russian gas oil.
