The situation escalated when the vessel began to take on water and subsequently started to sink. The alarm was raised at 1:08 p.m., prompting a swift response from authorities. A Sea King helicopter from the 330 Squadron in Florø was dispatched to the scene, carrying essential supplies, including bilge pumps, to assist the overwhelmed crew. Despite their best efforts, the firefighters found that smoke was thickening rapidly on board. Once the pumps failed to manage the flooding, the decision was made to abandon ship. The crew of five, with members hailing from Møre og Romsdal and Sogn/Fjordane, were safely transferred to the 'Rem Supporter', which had traveled four miles to reach them. Following their rescue, they were hoisted aboard the rescue helicopter for immediate transport back to safety in Florø.
