In a significant event held at IJmuiden Port, Amsterdam, Iskes Towage proudly named two of its latest vessels, the Damen ASD Tugs 3212 Mars and Mercurius. This ceremony not only showcased the powerful new tugs but also celebrated the company's impressive 50th anniversary, a milestone established by founder Ben Iskes in 1968 and now carried on by his son, Jim Iskes. The Mars was named by Elisabeth Post, who holds the position of Deputy for Transport and Traffic for the Province of North Holland, while the Mercurius received its name from Miss Annick Vergouwen, the daughter of Ronald Vergouwen, the company’s managing director. The occasion drew a large crowd, including Iskes staff, numerous clients, and partners who have contributed to the company's success over the years. At the same ceremony, a third tug, named Telstar, was also unveiled from a different shipyard. The newly christened Mars and Mercurius are distinguished as among the most vigorous vessels in the Iskes fleet, primarily serving the busy ports of IJmuiden and Europort in Rotterdam, with capabilities extending to offshore operations in the North Sea. With an impressive 82.5 tonnes of bollard pull, the ASD Tugs 3212 are engineered to manage the largest maritime vessels frequenting these ports and are outfitted with a variety of specialized modifications typical of Iskes Towage's commitment to excellence.
