Syn-Tabit Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On January 19, 2021, the tanker 'Syn Tabit', en route from Ceuta to Rotterdam, encountered steering gear issues while positioned at 51°18'36.0" N 2°07'36.0" E, approximately two miles northeast of the Sandettie North Buoy. In response to the emergency, the tugboat 'Abeille Languedoc' was deployed to assist the troubled vessel. The Dover Coastguard was notified, with the CROSS Gris Nez coordinating the incident response. Despite the crew's efforts, the steering malfunction could not be rectified immediately, prompting the vessel to drop anchor while repairs were undertaken with the help of 'Abeille Languedoc'. Once the deficiency was corrected, 'Syn Tabit' moved towards the Dunkerque Anchorage, making the tug's assistance no longer necessary. However, as the journey continued towards Rotterdam, the tanker required further assistance from the tug 'Multratug 17'. Departing from Flushing at 12:35 p.m., 'Multratug 17' was tasked with towing 'Syn Tabit' to provide a sheltered position due to adverse weather conditions before proceeding to the port of Rotterdam, where the estimated time of arrival is set for January 21.
