Working Conditions Aboard the Taccola

Early in the morning on March 30, 2020, at 5:10 a.m., a crew member aboard the dredging vessel 'Taccola' experienced a severe, life-threatening injury while navigating the Elbe River near Brunsbüttel. With no search and rescue helicopter immediately available, assistance was secured from the helicopter of an offshore company located in St. Peter Ording. The 'Taccola' promptly reduced its speed to facilitate the emergency medevac. Within moments, the helicopter arrived on the scene and hoisted the injured crew member onboard. He was subsequently transported to a hospital in Heide, where his condition was reported to be stable following the incident.

On the afternoon of November 24, 2012, at approximately 1:15 p.m., the cargo vessel m/v 'Telamon' was involved in a maritime mishap, first colliding with the ferry 'Nordenham' before subsequently crashing into the cargo ship 'Taccola'. The initial impact left the 'Nordenham' with a dented bulwark and damaged mooring bollards, resulting in one female passenger sustaining minor injuries that required hospitalization. Meanwhile, the 'Telamon', which was carrying components for wind turbines, sustained damage to its hull and superstructure. Following these unfortunate incidents, the 'Telamon' was instructed to anchor but, while doing so, made contact with the 'Taccola', which was operating near Bremerhaven at the time.
