This historic event took place on August 29, 2014, marking a significant milestone in ship design and engineering. The innovative CFRP propeller, crafted by Nakashima Propeller, was successfully fitted onto the Taiko Maru, a 499 GT chemical tanker owned by Sowa Kaiun YK. The installation was carried out in May at Koa Industry Co. located in Marugame, Japan. This project received valuable backing from ClassNK, which provided critical approval for the design and manufacturing stages. Furthermore, ClassNK supported the initiative through research and funding, as part of their Joint R&D for Industry Program, paving the way for more sustainable and efficient shipping solutions.
