Tera-Jet Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On July 10, 2018, the Central Port Authority of Rafina received an alarming report from the captain of the ferry 'Tera Jet.' During its mooring maneuver at Tinos, the vessel experienced significant vibrations believed to originate from its turbine hydro-propulsion system, possibly due to an intrusion. As a precaution, the ship was prohibited from departing until it obtained confirmation of its class and seaworthiness from the relevant classification society. Fortunately, after thorough checks, the ferry was cleared and resumed its scheduled services to Mykonos and Naxos at 9 a.m. on July 11.

On Tuesday night, the Tera Jet arrived in Piraeus, transporting 1,749 migrants and refugees from Lesbos, according to the Greek coastguard. This journey is part of a larger trend, as Greece grapples with an increasing influx of migrants arriving on its islands via small boats from Turkey. Recent reports indicate that last month, nearly 2,000 individuals were crossing over to these islands daily. Following a brief pause last week, Greek authorities resumed ferrying refugees to the mainland. The majority of these individuals hail from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and the ships depart from several eastern islands, including Kos, Lesbos, Samos, Symi, and Agathonissi. A coastguard representative mentioned that another vessel, expected to carry 2,459 migrants from Lesbos, is slated to reach Piraeus in the early hours of Wednesday.
