On April 19, 2018, the bulk carrier 'Theometor' found itself detained at Paradip Port after completing the offloading of a substantial cargo of 51,350 tons of rock phosphate. The arrest of the vessel came following a court warrant instigated by the ship's manager, Latona Maritime, due to a financial disagreement with its charterer, Singapore-based Valency International Trading Pvt Ltd (VIT). The legal dispute prompted Latona Maritime to seek the vessel's detention in court. Consequently, the court granted the request and summoned the manager for a hearing. In an effort to optimize port operations, the Paradip Port Authority requested the court's permission to relocate the vessel to another berth to accommodate the arrival of additional ships. As of April 20, 'Theometor' was moored at the anchorage off Paradip, awaiting further developments.
