SD Seahorse Rescued and Towed to Varna After Engine Failure
On June 20, 2018, at 8:50 p.m., the tugboat 'SD Seahorse', which was making its way from Novrossiysk to Varna, encountered a significant setback when it experienced a main engine failure. This incident occurred at coordinates 44° 04' 12" N and 34° 26' 24" E, causing the vessel to drift helplessly in the Black Sea. Despite the crew's efforts to address the mechanical issue, they were unable to restore engine function. In light of this, a decision was made to tow the disabled tug to safety. A salvage tug arrived at the scene around 9 a.m. the following day, and by 11:30 a.m. on June 21, the 'SD Seahorse' was successfully docked at Ezerovo in Varna, ensuring the safety of both the crew and the vessel.
