Apr 26, 2017 23:11

The Shetland Islands Council is set to enhance its harbour operations at Sellaness with the arrival of the newly chartered tug, MULTRATUG 29, which is currently traveling up the east coast of Scotland. This impressive vessel, measuring 32 meters in length and just two years old, is being acquired through a 'bare boat' charter as part of the council's fleet renewal initiative. MULTRATUG 29 will take over the duties of the TIRRICK, which is being sold to buyers in Greece. With a proven track record in busy maritime hubs such as Antwerp, Rotterdam, and Terneuzen, MULTRATUG 29 has been an integral part of Multraship's fleet. The Damen 3212 class tug boasts a 12-meter beam and a remarkable bollard pull exceeding 70 tonnes, contributing to its reputation as a reliable design. Crafted in Vietnam, this robust tug is now ready to serve the needs of the Shetland Islands Council.

On June 24, 2023, Multraship celebrated the naming ceremony of two state-of-the-art Damen ASD 3212 tugs at their Terneuzen facility in the Netherlands. The newly unveiled vessels, christened Multratug 29 and Multratug 30, are the latest additions to Multraship's impressive fleet and were constructed at the Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam. These 32-meter tugs boast an exceptional bollard pull of 82 tonnes, making them noteworthy for their superior sea-keeping capabilities, exceptional manoeuvrability, and remarkable towing performance.
