Incident Involves Tokuyo Maru No. 17 at Namikata Oil Reserve
On April 22, 2024, the 'Tokuyo Maru No. 17,' carrying a crew of seven, was involved in an allision with the pier at the Namikata National Oil Reserve Base located in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m., fortunately resulting in no reported injuries or oil spills. However, the vessel did sustain damage to both its bow and port side. Additionally, evidence of damage was apparent on the pier where the ship made contact. As of April 23, the tanker, which was en route to Hiroshima, was moored at coordinates 34° 18.56'N 132° 28.85'E.
