The vessel was en route to Midia, carrying a cargo of oil loaded at Ceyhan. After losing power, the tanker began to drift but was quickly secured by the efforts of three tugboats, which towed it safely through the Bosphorus into the Black Sea. During this incident, ship traffic in the strait was temporarily halted to ensure safe passage for the troubled vessel. The transit was successfully completed by 6:30 a.m. for the 'Nissos Therassia'.
