In a significant maritime recovery effort, the dredger 'Toste R' has successfully retrieved remnants of the Polish trawler 'Brdga', which tragically sank off the coast of Hanstholm on January 11, 1975. This disaster claimed the lives of 10 Polish fishermen during a harrowing stormy night as their vessel capsized near the harbor, witnessed by hundreds who were unable to assist without the necessary rescue equipment at the time. Despite the peril, 17 fishermen were saved by a rescue helicopter, but the wreck was long forgotten until recent port expansion activities. As part of the ongoing dredging operations aimed at deepening and purifying the new deep-water quay, divers have now recovered a number of significant artifacts from the wreck, including the ship's bell, rope blocks, chains, and other critical components of the trawler. Among the larger salvaged pieces are the lower section of the bow and various frame elements, now bringing closure to a maritime tragedy that has lingered in the memories of many.
