The situation is currently being assessed as officials work to contain and address the spill.

Kværner ASA to Enhance H-6e Drill Rig Performance

Jul 15, 2014 09:34

Kværner ASA, a prominent player in the maritime construction sector, has announced that the 'Transocean Barents', an H-6e drilling rig, is scheduled to dock at their Stord facilities this week. This significant yard stay, expected to last around two months, primarily focuses on the rig's five-year classification renewal, along with necessary upgrades and modifications. Upon its arrival, the Transocean Barents will initially anchor in the fjord adjacent to Kværner's Stord site for a brief period. Once it is moored at the quay, the intensive upgrade campaign will commence and is estimated to span approximately two months. Following the onshore improvements, the rig will conduct a brief series of sea trials in Klosterfjorden. Designed to handle the toughest operational conditions, the Transocean Barents is a sixth-generation Aker H-6e semi-submersible drilling rig equipped with dynamic positioning technology, capable of working in water depths up to 10,000 feet. Launched in 2009, it is one of two advanced drilling platforms of the H6-e series produced at Stord, alongside its twin, the Transocean Spitsbergen. Both rigs have earned a reputation for delivering impressive and consistent performance in challenging marine environments.
